Problems - Startup Ideas
Startups pitches are around fixing problems, but so often they leave it out the actual problem. So this is a forum of just problems. Problems that need to be solved. If someone wants to solve your problem, they can build it, and you can use it.
Problem solved.

Make Me Dinner - an ebay for food service
A match making service that would connect people who need meals with people who can make them, presumably in their neighborhood.
So a single working person indicates what kind of food they like, and mom who cooks for a family of 6 adds a couple extra portions to what she makes that night and delivers it to a couple neighbors. That pays for her whole family. Chefs could post updates of what they're cooking that night, and people could "follow" their favorite chefs and pick from the meals available. Chefs build reputations, etc. It's like the ebay for food service.

Finding domain names
Buying domain names sucks.
Find me a better way to do it. It would be great if you could fix DNS while you're at it.45 votes -
Small business finance sucks
Entrepreneurs are passionate about building good products; not about managing their finances. We're building a "Mint.com for Businesses" to help solve this problem.

I need a Git windows client similar to TortoiseSVN
The only one I could find was Git-Cheetah, which I'd have to build from source myself, which is a pain.

I can't use layaway to put money towards new skis/bike
I could never throw down 1-2k for a new mountain bike or the latest skis I want, my wife would suggest we be more practical. However, I could put $200/month or so towards that new bike I have my eye on. Layaway sites exist but are terrible. This should be an option for bike shops to utilize just like those terrible "no money down" offers that are really high interest rate credit cards.

I miss when people link to my website when I am offline.
When someone links to my website, I would love a txt message or an email. txt message if they have standing (Pagerank?).

I organize groups and have no single place to do it
I organize Startup Weekends, Ignite, Startup Drinks etc and find it really hard to do it all from one place.
Ideally, a wordpress plugin that handles rsvp, blast emails and helps 'tell the story' of the event for the archives.

Spammers hop from one web startup to another
Web startups have access to little information about entities that have patterns of abuse of other web services: spammers, phishers, etc. These consume the time of the startup staff and damage its reputation in the community.

getting free, factual data on products with UPCs and pics.
Scrape Amazon, Ebay, Google Product Search, Freebase, whatever - but it's bullshit that this information isn't out there so that I can price compare or create an online store or help with government contracting or a thousand other things. Factual information should be free.

great ideas from startup weekends get overlooked
the big ideas sometimes get lost a bit with so many web 2.0 ideas.
I gave a 30 sec pitch regarding an idea that will change the way movies are distributed. a win/win for everyone.
As a filmmaker, I don't have the coding knowledge to start the project myself.
Arin Lance and some friends started www.fromheretoawesome.com to test some ideas.

Virtual popcorn & a movie; virtual film festivals
Always traveling, my partner & I long for ways to connect and share while apart. We'd like to be able to share a film/tv show and discuss it/mock it in real time (same as we might when together). I propose a social networking site which allows 2 or more people to schedule movie/tv watching events (virtual film festival anyone?), synchronize viewing and permit real-time interaction. Requires ways to avoid copyright violation (multiple purchase/rental for each participant?), synchronize, schedule, notify, advertise, sell advertising, etc.

Anonymous 4chan-like forum creation and maintenance platform
A quickly deployable, minimally featured forum portal with a singular web admin console. Anonymous users can create forums and post images to a central server which can spin up other vm's for each forum created. You know, if you have a couple months...

news overload: too many great sources
There are tons of quality blogs and news sources, but I don't have time to read *all* of their content. I want a recommendation engine that'll show me specific articles that I'll enjoy.

it's hard to reliably & programatically send custom emails
email deliverability just sucks. it way to hard to figure out all the tricks to be a reliable vendor. and then building all the tools for optimizing email delivery -- open rates, click through tracking, a/b testing campaigns -- is also a ton of work and not core to your product.
this is a solved problem for newsletters where the same email is sent to every recipient. but when you want to programmatically send a different email to each recipient, you have to do it yourself and it sucks.
